Steps to Verify Student Status for Student Membership
To qualify for student memberships, you must send verification of full-time student status and your TxABA account username or email associated with your account to member@txaba.org. Documents should be on a letterhead and/or have a valid signature and must show that you are currently enrolled. The following forms are acceptable:
- 1) A letter or email from a professor who knows the student
- 2) A copy of the student's unofficial transcript
Please allow up to 7 business days for your student status to be verified. Once your student status has been verified, you will be able to purchase student membership on the register page.

TxABA Executive Council Student Representative
The Student Representative serves a 2-year term on the Executive Council and leads the TxABA Student Committee. The first year as the non-voting Junior Student Representative and Secretary of the Student Committee. The second year as the voting Senior Student Representative and Chair of the Student Committee. Student Representatives are required to be Texas residents, be Student Members of TxABA, and have at least one year remaining in their master's or Ph.D. program at the time of joining council. The call for nominations generally happens around November each year with voting taking place in February and the council term starting May 1st.
The purpose of the student committee is to promote engagement, diversity opportunities, and provide resources among TxABA student members. Additionally, the Student Committee shall work with the Student Representative to ensure the perspective of students across the entirety of the state are represented on the council so as to further the growth of the next generation of behavior analysts. James L. Kopp Memorial Scholarship
The James L. Kopp Memorial Scholarship was created to honor the first president of TxABA, who passed away on November 19, 2010. During his 40-year career in Texas, his most prominent contributions to behavior analysis were as a teacher and mentor at the Department of Psychology, University of Texas at Arlington.
The purpose of this award is to defray education-related costs or costs associated with attending the ABAI annual conference. Applicants will be chosen from the submissions to receive $1,00 scholarships.
The TxABA Student Member must be listed as presenting author in a symposium, paper session, or poster at ABAI and must be a current Student Member of TxABA to be eligible.
Student Members who are interested in applying for a scholarship should submit:
- 1) Full submission of research accepted by ABAI (e.g., title, abstract, graphs submitted to ABAI, etc.)
- 2) Any updated documents since ABAI submission, particularly updated graphs
- 3) A reference list
- 4) A current curriculum vitae
- 5) Current unofficial transcript documenting the student as a degree-seeking student at a University or a letter from a faculty member
- 6) Email from ABAI confirming that your submission had been accepted
- 7) TxABA account username or email associated with your TxABA account
Applications open on December 1, 2023, and are due by February 16, 2024. Applicants will be notified by March 8, 2024.

TxABA Student Conference Registration Scholarship
This scholarship is to provide financial support to full-time student members who would like to attend the annual TxABA conference but are unable to pay conference registration fees due to financial hardship. Recipients of the TxABA Student Scholarship will receive free student registration to the 2024 TxABA Conference. To qualify for consideration, the student member must provide the following information:
- 1) Your name, university, academic program, and name of the faculty writing a letter
- 2) A statement describing why the scholarship is needed no longer than 1 page, single-spaced, 12-point
- 3) A letter of support from a faculty at the student's university
- 4) TxABA account username or email associated with your account
Applications open on December 1, 2023, and are due by February 16, 2024. Applicants will be notified by March 8, 2024.
